You've heard of ice skating rinks in cities & communities, but have you ever heard of Ice Skating inside if an amusement park? Yes that is actually a thing, and you can find it at Kings Dominion during their WinterFest. This blog post will show a step-by-step guide on how to get on that large rink inside the park
Basic Information
So the Ice Skating Rink is operating every operating night of WinterFest at Kings Dominion. It is not included in your WinterFest admission so it is an upcharge attraction. Pricing for Ice Skating is $17 per-person on Fridays & Sundays, and $20 per-person on Saturdays. NEW this year is Skate Rentals ARE INCLUDED in your charge so no need to bring your own skates. Your ice skating voucher gives you access to a session of your choice. Each night has 3 skating sessions: 5:00pm-6:30pm, 7:00pm-8:30pm, and 9:00pm-10:30pm
Step 1: The Waiver
Everyone who plans to skate on the rink MUST fill out a waiver, even those who have skated on this rink in years past.
PRO-Tip: The Waiver can be filled out online so I highly recommend filling it out to make your check-in process a lot faster when you arrive at the rink.
The link to the online waiver can be found here: https://app.waiversign.com/e/615cb9ac1ff3210012fbe9d3/doc/615cc1fc96febf0012bd7086?eventName=Ice%20Skating
Step 2: Check-In & Fitting
Once you have filled out the waiver, head on over to the check-in counter which is right across from the entrance to the rink. Here you will give your name(s) and you'll receive your wristband that will give you access to the rink during your session. After that you will head on over to the fitting area where you will grab your skates that are your shoe size. SIDE NOTE, they don't have skates that are half sizes (10.5, 11.5, etc.)
Step 3: Head On In!
Once you have collected your skates and you have reached your session start time, you are good to go to head on into the rink.
Other Helpful Tips
The Rink does have helpers for anyone who needs them. A cool thing about them is it even has a seat on it so a person can sit on it while the skater pushes the helper. Talk about an awesome joyride
Once you get into the rink area, There is a Seating area right before you go into the rink where you can put your skates on, take a break from skating. There are also cubbies where you can put your belongings and they are available first-come first-serve. NO PHONES ALLOWED on the rink so make sure to put that away as well
Freestyle Skating is NOT Allowed. Everyone must skate in a counterclockwise direction
